Currently I'm working on and off a bit on a entry for the contest that Nyanko-chan is putting on at DA, it's a coloring contest.

Really, I just want to color the sexy lineart. I could care less about actually entering or winning. Given the deadline is in December I probably will finish it in time and I probably will actually enter.

Cause really, why not?


Anyway, today's preview is of my progress on that before the computer died. XDDD (Not that I lost any of the progress, mind you, cause it wasn't the hard drive that had problems.)

School keeps me busy, but I've still got a work in progress . . . that gives me something to procrastinate with XD

ANYWAY.

It's basically just the old, take an old drawing of yours and redraw it. The original was 2002, then I'd done it in 2005. So now I redid it in 2009.

And boy, have I improved e_e;

More update progress~

I ended up having to use a simpler CG style than I normally do. My normal one made too much contrast between the visual 3-d of the figure and the flat 2-d of the background . . . . That and the details of it weren't preserved at the sizes I'd mostly be displaying it at XD;;;


But I think it looks better with the simpler cell anyway . . . . I'm actually pretty pleased with it so far.

So, I did decide to go an entirely different way with the background of my current WIP.

I'm thinking shoji screens with it . . . (and thus brush painting). We'll have to see how it goes!

So far I just have bamboo . . . . And the realization that if I wanted to do real good brush painting I'd have a lot more practice ahead of me. But for this sort of thing I think I'm good enough.

(Besides, digital brushes are more limited in technique you can use with them . . . I think I could have gotten better strokes by hand -_-; [though no undo to fix my composition mistakes . . . so I guess it balances out])

So . . . currently trying to figure out just at what point the drawing I previously posted a WIP started running away with itself.

I've been playing Princess Maker 2 lately . . . and started drawing one of my newest characters while waiting for my "daughter" to finish her lessons/work etc so I could make her a new schedule for the next month.

I've almost got it inked now, and I actually . . . am really pleased with how it's turned out. Amazingly so. It's really surpassed my expectations.

And I haven't even colored it yet ._.

Progress~ Man, I downloaded SAI to try it out . . . and I love what I can do with it concerning my inking lineart ;__;

My current WIP is based off of Ragnarok Online. I blame house_of_raila for reviving my obsession with Original Characters based off the world. XD;

These are older characters of mine, Zakkiel and Arsenol. You can even read drabbles about them here XDDD Cause I'm sure you guys care.

With schoolwork my WIPs got pushed to the side for awhile. Finished one . . . natural media even, and started another, though.

Sketch and current progress on a drawing of Tarot . . . who I realized I'd never really drawn a good picture of. I'm gonna try to get his proper hair color out of this CG too . . . it's a lot darker than it was when I had him as an MSD (I just compromised and got him the only red I could find).



One one note. I really hate inking wings. REALLY HATE. And after I finish them then I have to go in and add detail to them (well, some of them have some detailing already, so you'll be able to see what I mean by detail). Argh.

Beware this one is sorta creepy. Though I've actually posted it before. Background on it this time, because I forget if I posted that before . . . .


The whole goal of this piece was an exercise in characterization. In his story Eden at one point cracks and his anger takes control of him. He is essentially psychotic. This personality is split from him, forming the character Ruin.

Who mostly looks like Eden. Just psychotic.


. . . I wanted to see if it was possible to make a character psychotic but still look like Eden, who is generally fluffy-cute . . . (including the freckles that are now part of his design).


I think I've succeeded at that e__e; So this exercise is already a success, even though it's not finished!

But I'm gonna sit on it for a day before informing my client. To make sure I don't catch something when I haven't been staring at it for hours or have a sudden inspiration . . . or realize I forgot something.
